What's PantherBuy?
The PantherBuy system is a web-based procurement tool which links authorized University of Pittsburgh purchasers to contracted suppliers. The University uses this system to streamline the process of purchasing goods.
› Purchasers selects goods from an online catalog of selected suppliers or punches out to a supplier’s customized University of Pittsburgh website.
› Purchasers create requisitions to request the purchase of the selected goods.
› Requisitions are automatically and electronically routed for approval.
› Approved requisitions are then transmitted electronically to suppliers for fulfillment.
› The University pays suppliers automatically without the need of an invoice.
Pitt was the 50th higher education institution to become a SciQuest customer. SciQuest is currently being used by Notre Dame, Yale, Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, M.I.T, University of Michigan and University of Southern California to name a few.

What's New?
Internet Exporer 8 :
The PantherBuy software is currently not compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8). We highly recommend you do not upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 if you use the PantherBuy Internet Procurement system.
If you already use Internet Explorer 8, you will likely encounter problems when using PantherBuy, specifically the punchouts. We recommend that those users immediately download Mozilla Firefox or return to using Internet Explorer 7. If you cannot do that, contact your IT department to have them assist you with this.
SciQuest and the various suppliers in PantherBuy are working to make their software, and websites compatible with Internet Explorer 8. As soon as we have been notified by SciQuest and the individual suppliers that they are compatible with IE8 we will notify the PantherBuy user community.
Please contact The PantherBuy Team at PantherBuy@bc.pitt.edu if you have any comments or questions related to this matter.
EH&S/DHS Chemicals of Interest:
The Department of Homeland Security has mandated all purchases containing chemicals included in the official Chemicals of Interest list (see link below) must be tracked and inventoried by the University of Pittsburgh. Starting April 6, 2009, the PantherBuy System will track these purchases and forward them to the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) for review.
Please CLICK HERE to see the letter from Jay Frerotte, Director Environmental Health and Safety, as well as the list of Chemicals of Interest.
