What's PantherBuy?

 

The PantherBuy system is a web-based procurement tool which links authorized University of Pittsburgh purchasers to contracted suppliers.  The University uses this system to streamline the process of purchasing goods.

 

 

The University is currently receiving electronic invoices from the largest suppliers in PantherBuy:

 

Pitt was the 50th higher education institution to become a SciQuest customer. SciQuest is currently being used by Notre Dame, Yale, Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, M.I.T, University of Michigan and University of Southern California to name a few.

Spring Supplier Show - Tuesday, May 15th

Changes to the Biological Sciences and Chemistry Punchouts in PantherBuy

 

Fisher Scientific upgraded all of their customer punchout sites this weekend. We wanted to alert everyone the changes made by Fisher include the look and functionality of the Chemistry and Biology Stockroom landing pages.

• The search box is no longer visible:  The search box was in the left hand margin of the old site. It has been removed completely. This will prevent Chemistry and Biology Stockroom buyers from using the search feature. We have told users in the past not to use the search feature, but some still did and received incorrect information. The search box being removed will prevent those problems from occurring.

 

• Hotlist Menu: The hotlist menu that was at the top right hand corner of the old site has been moved.  To get to the “old” hot list menu a user will need to click on the “My Account” menu now at the top right hand corner of the landing page.

 

• New Hotlist and Rapid Order buttons:  When we found out Fisher was going “hide” the hotlist menu inside the “My Account” menu, we asked them to add a section in the middle of the landing page for a Hotlist Button and Rapid Order button. See Below. Both are now prominently displayed on the body of the landing page. Users can now click these buttons to get to the functionality they need. This should alleviate any confusion caused by the “Hotlist” menu being removed from the top right hand corner of the landing page.

 

• Click to go “Home”:  The landing page that come up when someone punches out to one of the Stockroom pages is considered the “Home” page for the site. If you click on the “Fisher Scientific” logo at the top left hand corner of the screen, this link will take you to the “Home” page.

Once we have updated all documentation for the individual stockrooms, we will place an announcement in the organization message area of PantherBuy.

EMD Hosted Catalog

The EMD hosted catalog is back and you are now able to purchase EMD items in the PantherBuy system again.

Need gas?  Valley National Gases has merged with Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc.  When searching for your VNG products, they will now appear under Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc.

 

Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) AED Program

The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) is pleased to announce AEDs and AED accessories are now available for purchase in PantherBuy via the Fisher Scientific punchout. This new ordering process will allow EH&S to review AED orders, visit the installation site to ensure proper positioning and installation, and add the AED unit to the EH&S inventory for annual inspection. These benefits and more are provided at no cost to the department.

Document Search 

Order History has been retired and replaced with a feature called "Document Search".   Please review Chapter 4 of the Buyers Manual to obtain more information and instructions as to how to navigate "Document Search".   Please contact us with any questions or assistance in using this feature.

 

Apple Single License Offerings

Apple is now offering single license software in the PantherBuy system. Titles previously only available through iTunes are available for purchase. Software titles include OS X Lion, OS X Lion Server, iPhoto, Keynote and many others. Just go to the Apple punchout, type single license into the search field and hit enter. You will be able to review all single license offerings.

Customers placing orders with Apple will receive 1 content code per license purchased. This is applicable for all Apple single unit software titles, including OS X Lion, and Lion Server.

Purchasing Fundamentals:

University of Pittsburgh departmental purchasers, shoppers and approvers play a major role in procuring goods and services. As a prerequisite to attending PRISM Purchasing and PantherBuy training, you are required to complete Purchasing Fundamentals training. 

Purchasing Fundamentals training has traditionally been offered several times per year as a live presentation through the Faculty and Staff Development Program for University Business and

Financial Services. Now the course is also offered online and you are able to take it at your convenience.

Completion in either format (in-class or online) will satisfy the prerequisite to attend  PRISM Purchasing and PantherBuy training.
